NEW!  Hendrickson Method Training: Fundamentals   (126 hrs)
with Giles Gamble and Frank Haseloff

We’re thrilled to announce that for the first time, the Hendrickson Method Institute is offering a condensed certification program to fit the needs of students who are only available on weekends. Many of you have told us that your colleagues have not been able to take the 200-hour certification class because of a conflict on Mondays, so we’ve created this 126-hour course. It begins September 2011 and will be held one weekend each month (Saturday and Sunday) for nine months. Students will be in the same class with the Essentials and Advanced Training students, will study the same material as the 200-hour Essentials training, but will not attend the Monday class, which is devoted to reviewing and applying the week-end’s material in a clinical setting.  Students are introduced to wave mobilization®, a new massage stroke developed by Dr. Hendrickson.  Modeled after ocean waves, this stroke mobilizes the soft tissue as well as the joints using a gentle oscillating rhythm.  Two-thirds of the class is table work and includes specific treatment protocols of massage, joint mobilization, and muscle energy technique for common orthopedic conditions.   Click here to see the syllabus, dates, and hours. This course is taught by Giles Gamble and Frank Haseloff, except for the first weekend, which is taught by Dr. Hendrickson.

All classes meet Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am – 5:30pm.

Prerequisites: A massage certificate or health care license.

Hendrickson Method Training: Essentials    (200 hrs)
with Giles Gamble, Frank Haseloff and Tom Hendrickson

In this course, students learn the science of orthopedic therapy, clinical assessment, fundamentals of pathology, contraindications for massage and manual therapy, and are supervised in the practice of Hendrickson Method. Each lecture includes aspects of clinical anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, the science of injury and repair of soft tissue and joints, and the scientific foundations of massage. Students learn the patterns of soft tissue dysfunction, including the concepts of Lauren Berry, P.T., a legendary healer, physical therapist, mechanical engineer, and Dr. Hendrickson’s mentor.  Two-thirds of the class is table work and includes assessment and specific treatment protocols of massage, joint mobilization, and muscle energy technique for most orthopedic conditions, including low back pain, cervical whiplash, rotator cuff injuries, plantar fasciitis, and tennis elbow. Students are introduced to wave mobilization®, a new massage stroke developed by Dr. Hendrickson. Modeled after ocean waves, this stroke mobilizes the soft tissue as well as the joints using a gentle oscillating rhythm.

Class is held once each month for three days (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) for nine months.  The weekend classes are taught by Giles Gamble and Frank Haseloff.  Monday classes, called “Clinical Applications” are led by Dr. Hendrickson who teaches how the techniques learned over the weekend are applied in the clinical setting.  History, assessment, and treatment methods are demonstrated and practiced. Graduates who successfully meet all course requirements will receive professional certification and the right to use the title: Hendrickson Method Practitioner.

Prerequisites: A massage certificate or health care license.

Essentials and Advanced Training are taught concurrently. All classes meet Saturday and Sunday from 9:30am – 5:30pm and Monday from 9:00am – 5:30pm.

Hendrickson Method Advanced Certification Training (200 hrs)
with Giles Gamble, Frank Haseloff and Tom Hendrickson

This course is a continuation of Hendrickson Method Training: Essentials, and focuses on helping students deepen their knowledge of the science of orthopedic therapy and clinical assessment. Material covered includes the anatomy and physiology of joint capsules and cartilage, and the neurological effects of joint dysfunction. Students learn the patterns of soft tissue dysfunction, including the concepts of Vladimir Janda M.D., a pioneer in manual medicine with whom Dr. Hendrickson trained. Lecture topics include pathology and the contraindications for massage and manual therapy. Table work includes advanced assessment skills, including differential assessment, and how to communicate with other health care providers. Two-thirds of classroom hours are devoted to learning specific treatment protocols including massage, joint mobilization, and muscle energy technique for more complex orthopedic conditions including peripheral entrapment neuropathies. Advanced levels of muscle energy technique are presented. Students are also instructed in how to deepen their internal energy.

Class is held once each month for three days (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday) for nine months.  The weekend classes are taught by Giles Gamble and Frank Haseloff.  Monday classes, called “Clinical Applications”, are led by Dr. Hendrickson who teaches how the techniques learned over the weekend are applied in the clinical setting.  History, assessment, and treatment methods are demonstrated and practiced.   Graduates who successfully meet all course requirements will receive professional certification and the right to use the title: Hendrickson Method Therapist.
