Massage for Orthopedic Conditions

“My colleagues agree this is the best text we have found for the instruction of Remedial Massage Therapy. Therefore, our College is pleased to incorporate it as the primary text for advanced studies.”

-Randy Ellingson WC(Hon), FLCSP(Phys) Principal Wellington College of Remedial Massage Therapy Inc.

Dr. Hendrickson’s book
In response to popular demand the second edition of Dr. Hendrickson’s book, Massage and Manual Therapy for Orthopedic Conditions, has been released (September, 2009). It is now published in five languages and has become a required textbook for many advanced massage and manual therapy courses taught throughout the United States.

Massage and Manual Therapy for Orthopedic Conditions succinctly and clearly describes the anatomy, kinesiology, function, dysfunction and injury of each region of the body. Each chapter then describes a system of clinically effective massage and manual therapy techniques developed specifically for orthopedic conditions.  Hendrickson Method has been refined in thirty years of clinical practice and produces remarkable results, efficiently and effortlessly. This method shows a step-by-step protocol for both acute injury and chronic pain, as well as how to optimize musculoskeletal function.

Dr. Hendrickson book introduces a unique new method of soft tissue mobilization called wave mobilization®.  Based on the internal energy healing of Tai Chi, this stroke is performed in gentle, rhythmic oscillations that mimic ocean waves and penetrate deep within the body, reducing or eliminating pain, dissolving adhesions, lengthening connective tissue, eliminating trigger points, improving range of motion in the joints, rehabilitating cartilage and discs, and helping to restore normal neurological function.

Highlights of the manual include:

  • A step-by-step approach to assessment and treatment to address every body region
